Sunidhi Chauhan

I could attend only one of the three "Musical Men" concerts mentioned in one of my previous posts. However, here is a female star of the Indian Music Industry, and I could attend this one. Musical genius, I must say.

Powerhouse of talent and a complete entertainer - and at such young age. The breadth of her repertoire is simply amazing. She can perform a powerful - "Mast (title song)", the sultry - "Kaisi paheli hai (Parineeta)", a western melody - "I will always love you (Whitney Houston)", naughty - "Mummy se na kehna (Chocolate)", gentle - "Bhaage re mann (Chameli)"; all with equal panache.

Most people know that Sunidhi was "discovered" from talent shows like "Meri Awaaz Suno", "Sa Re Ga Ma", etc., initially as a child artiste and then as an adult singer. From the very early days, even as a child, she has displayed supreme confidence and that's what impresses me most.

Although I learnt a few days later from the organizers that she threw tantrums and had a very "starry" attitude, I can for the time being, condone them. Perhaps these are the side effects of fame.

Songs she sung at the concert:
Mast - title song
Mehboob mere - Fiza
Ishq kabhi kariyo na - Musafir
Ek ajnabee - title song
Tere ishq ki deewangee - Krishna Cottage
Mummy se na kehna - Chocolate
Bhumbro - Mission Kashmir
16 baras ko maine - Krishna Cottage
Deedar de - Dus
I will always love you - Whitney Houston
Dil cheez - Umrao Jaan
Seekh le - Munnabhai MBBS
Kaisi paheli - Parineeta
Mere haath mein - Fanaa
Aa bhi jaa - Sur
Sajna ve sajna - Chameli
Aa aa ashiqui mein teri - 36 China Town
O saaqi - Dus
Dhoom - title song
Aisa jaadoo daala re - Khakee

Sunidhi, in some ways, epitomizes the revolution that I think I have been witnessing. What is this revolution, what is causing it, and who are creating it? To find out answers to these questions, go to my next blog (or wait for it, if I haven't published it yet ;) ).
